Unfortunately, that doesn't help the PS3. The only ones more expensive are the 2600: a system that launched in the early days of video games, when the tech to price ratio was much higher, the CD-i (and 3DO, which is pretty much the same case here), a system that was considered overpriced, and the Neo-Geo, which was considered a hardcore niche systems.
Yet the PS3 is selling well enough, but the price is still an issue, especially since it's sold at a loss.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
