Did you actually read the article linked to that blog post? I can't since I would have to register for the news site it came from. Since we can't see that, it makes me wonder if that is the whole, or even the correct context of what Ashcraft posted.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
