The AMD junk?  HA i remember AMD being on top of Intel for years and years, since the release of there K7's

 

AMD lost their market after the Athlon. Their processor brand fell apart. Intel took control with the Conroe core.

While it is expensive, the Core i7 will last you a LONG while. Easily over 3 years, heck, probably over 5 years.
