My excuse for this thread is that i taught English as a second language for close to five years. I'm not sure if this thread will be popular at all but let's try.
I know this is the internet and i know English is a second language for many but i created this thread for people to highlight common homophone errors, typos, spelling, incorrectly used vocab, grammar errors, punctuation errors etc. encountered on the internet that just BUG you.
Do you want to be a member of GAAEL? Then just give an example of the error you are talking about and if you are feeling very enthusiastic, perhaps an explanation of why it is wrong or the correct usage.
I'll start.
quite: an adverb meaning to a considerable degree or extent e.g. He is quite good at Halo.
quiEt: (2 syllables) adjective meaning no noise or sound. e.g. I wish he would be quiet when playing Halo.
RULES.
1. Being a member of GAAEL doesn't entitle you to edit posts or directly correct other peoples' errors in the manner of the Grammar Police, a different a wholly more annoying group. GAAEL is just here (not hear) to listen to you.
2. You many not correct any errors made in this post because that just makes you a smart ass;)
