And the girl's name was Lyndis, and your character was a tactician, and the sword was the Mani Katti?

It could still be Sacred Stones, assuming the girl is Eirika, the sword is the Rapier (a true butt-kicker against armored foes), and the pegasus girl is Tana. But I don't remember entering my birthday, and Tana doesn't join you until a few missions in.

This is a lot funnier than I had originally surmised, then.
