 Really? I remembered FE9 as ludicrously easy (easier than FE8), but maybe I'm wrong.

Could be, but it is this time around too (chapter 14 I think). I checked my stats compared to the average, and they're mostly normal (except for all my sword users having 2-5 extra points in magic...)
