I don't believe that there are going to be many more console gens that replace hardware in the future (probably 2-3 more). At some point it will be all about digital downloads, but Microsoft will be leading us to that end. Sony will keep trying to pioneer hard formats, because they can make more profit that way. I don't doubt with the way the Wii is going now that Digital downloads would be too hard to believe. Sony will be forced out of the competition if they cannot control the format style in which the people most desire.
