16x read speed DVD drives are in use on the 360 as well as 12x read speed DVD drives, developers though will have to take into account worst case scenarios when developing their games. Some games may benefit from less pop-in issues with a faster drive, other games like Halo 3 see virtually no benefit even when installed on the harddrive.
