I just found some install times:

http://www.gamespot.com/hardware/blogs/hardware-insider/909185655/26656232/xbox-360-hard-drive-game-installation-testing.html

NBA Live 09: 6.3 GB in 9m7s (or 11.8 MB/s)
The Force Unleashed: 6.6 GB in 9m47s (or 11.51 MB/s)

Just noticed this post.

What I don't understand Mike is how we are seeing >11.5MB/s read times when you keep quoting DL read speeds that max out at 8x (10.57MB/s) as the absolute maximum? This is an average too!

Something's not right...

One thing that MikeB got right is that there are several models of 360 DVD drives. Maybe some are slower (it would be interesting to see install times on old 360 models).

Still, it seems almost all developers have problems with PS3's BD drive... even those making exclusives like MGS4. This tells me that the PS3 is not better, and probably slightly worse in terms of optical media performance.

Err, why would they be slower? It makes absolutely no sense that they be slower or faster between models. Its like my asserting to you that new models of Xbox 360s come with 1GB of ram because that would be better than 512MB.

Tease.
