Now, for the record, the ps3 is my console of choice this generation so this post has nothing to do with my personal preference, but moreso something I'm wondering.
When the ps3 was first manufactured at $850 and sold for $600, at a loss of $250 Sony must have known they would suffer a huge loss if they were to sell great numbers. Hence, if they would have came in first they wouldn't have been able to take the initial loss, which leads me to conclude that Sony's intention was never to be first afterall.
I've been skeptical as to the matter of the ps3 being a trojan horse for blu-ray in the past, but this makes me reconsider. Afterall, should blu-ray succeed, the movie industry is a much larger industry than gaming and just might prove to be the better prospect. Let me know what you guys think.

Of course the the PS3 was used as a "Trojan Horse" for Blu Ray. I've been saying this the whole time. Sony thought they would at least be in second. Microsoft really surprised them. Sony thought they could screw over the market and get into second place, but the people didn't listen.
