However, it reaches a point where the PS3 is getting enough good games and has enough sales that it doesn't matter how its fared against the 360 because it has shown that it can do well in its own right.

And, I think being able to say we were able to beat the other guys only because we cut the heck out of our console's price is a hollow victory.

A question arises what if PS3 sold so well, it deserved its price cut, but the 360 was just matching prices to guarantee they stayed in second place.

 

Dude, Sony cut the price of their PS2 several times even when they were already far in the lead. So that was a hollow victory?   If cutting the price of the XBox 360 help them sell more systems and keeps them in the lead, that's perfectly fine. Sony did the same thing with the PS1 and PS2. No one complained then, so why b$#@% about that now when the PS3 is far behind the competition. People keep forgetting the XBox 360 has been out longer and can afford price cuts without loses.
