Actually he has a slight point. Nintendo is no longer focused on making video 'games', they are making video entertainment software. I doubt Miyamoto rejects any idea because it's not a 'game', he looks only at if said idea is fun and adds value to the player.
Wii Fit, Brain Age, and many of their DS titles are hardly focused on gameplay but they remain fun. More and more 3rd parties are following suit with Gold's Gym, EA's Sport Active, Ubisoft's My ___ Coach series, etc.
