Achievements will keep the 360 ahead of the PS3 this gen. People who start understanding this feature will want to be on the console that has that complete exprience. Sony might have made a mistake by impleminting this feature in this gen, instead of waiting to put it in the next console. It's pretty much a gimped system on the PS3. People are holding off on playing games, because they are waiting for Trophy patches. If the PS3 didn't have an achievement system, people wouldn't hesitate to enjoy it now, instead of waiting.
It's the waiting that's killing the PS3. The whole PS3 experience feels like it's in Beta, a work in project. With the 360 and Wii, at least you feel like you can enjoy it now without feeling cheated in a way. They know the games are in their finished state and don't need to play the whole game over again to get the complete experience.
The PS3 has the best game this gen in Valkyria Chronicles, but you still have this thought in the bcak of your head that it's missing something... Trophies. We wouldn't care, if the whole system would have never been implimented. The game would have felt complete and many people would be happy to die, knowing that they just played one of the best games ever made.
Some people only play games with trophies. The older games will get neglected, devs lose money. In a way Sony might have screwed those devs over by implimenting trophies as an afterthought.
