AMD is royally screwed versus Intel it seems. Intel is shipping 32nm processors at the moment. Westmere dual-cores have hyper threading making them 10+% faster then Core 2s that have the same speed.

AMD might control start pulling control in the GPU market though. Sadly the HD4890X2 is practically worthless. It will be the fastest GPU on the market but it will require its own power supply to run it since 1GB models are suspected to need 370w of power, and GPU manufacturers are planning 4GB models which means 400w requirements. CrossFireX with the HD4890X2 would mean around 800w needed.

Even I cant believe that AMD has managed to make a GPU that is less energy efficient then Nvidia's GPUs...

Don't believe those rumors, there will be no such thing as a 4890X2.

Why? because Rv870 (HD5850/HD5870) is expected to go in mass production in July already meaning there will be an HD 5870X2 shortly after. Why the hell would they need an 4890X2? To have the crown for 2 months? ehh no

 

whats the power consumption on that? I hope it isnt like the rumored 4980X2...
