Well, I don't think that the geth were the reapers. Remember the Quarians created them. The Reapers existed wayyyyyy before. The rest of your post sounds cool. I think another gateway will be created which allows them to come out, but who will create it?

lestatdark isn't inferring that the Geth are the Reapers. But he's suggesting that the Geth are moving along the same evolutionary path as the Reapers.
The idea is that the Reapers were created by some species, just like the Quarians created the Geth, the Reapers rebelled, and wiped out all organic species at that time. Afterwards, they initiated their 50,000 yearly quest of removing all organic life from the galaxy.

In that case he might have a point that the Geth can relate with the Reapers as they become more intelligent. As the story progresses the they will become smarter.
