Microsoft called for it to be made, they asked Tecmo to make it. And it was nothing like DMC back in the 2D days.

 

No they did not. Ninja Gaiden was being made anyone. The only reason the X-box got it over the PS2 and the Gamecube is because Itagaki liked the X-box hardware the best. When Tecmo had poll asking which console should get the game, the Gamecube won nearly 70% vote. Of course Nintendo fans new what Ninja Gaiden was...
