Rentals mean nothing. However, this does fit my theory that a lot of 360 owners find a game fun for a mere fraction of the time other system owners would.

Your theory holds no ground

Look at the top 10 list of games played based off Xbox Live.. These games have been out for months and some over a year.

Yet their still played... unless of course your trying to tell us they're not having fun?

Xbox 360 Top Live Titles (based on UU's)

  1. Halo 3
  2. Call of Duty: WaW
  3. Call of Duty 4
  4. Gears of War 2
  5. Resident Evil 5
  6. GTA IV
  7. FIFA 09
  8. Left 4 Dead
  9. Halo Wars
  10. Guitar Hero World Tour

Edit -

I would love to know where this theory came from? Cause from my point of view its busted by just looking at the top 10 games played on Xbox Live

Yeah, but your graph is pointless unless you can provide data for the other consoles for comparison. I've tried looking for the top 10 games on PSN (so far, no luck), but this site's data on Wii usage will tell you that Wii gamers are still playing older games plenty. I didn't say that Xbox 360 owners get bored of games quickly, just more quickly than other console owners. It's a part of why I think the attach rate is as high as it is. I see a lot of people on Xbox Live who own tons of games and yet have few achievements in each of them (even ones that are really easy to get). That means that either they're not playing the games, or there's some special way to hide your achievements that I don't know about.

Actually currently the Xbox 360 has a lower % of software market share relative to hardware market share: I.E Software % < Hardware %. So either they pirate, rent or are so immensely satisfied with past games that they don't move onto new ones. I would suspect its a combination of the 3 as Halo 3 for example has an average playtime of over 120 hours over x% of Live connected 360s.

Im not afraid of you anymore.
