WRPGs or JRPGs and why?

Mass Effect is the only RPG (correct me if i'm wrong) that i've seen allow you to continue your save from the last game.

Suikoden II and III allow that to a certain degree. Specially in II, it's not exactly a "continue" since the game happens 3 years after in a different region, but if you load the previous game save data some characters from the first game can carry over levels and equipment, and you get a bonus character, plus you get tons of more dialogues and scenes

 

Thats cool; not quite what i'm looking for, but still cool. I'm looking for something more personable than that. Thank you for the info though.

 

well patapon 2 lets u do the same, u keep items and kachiiing but thats not a jrpg =P.

and yes u could go others planets, and explore,  even go back in time.

in star ocean 3 they let u go back on forth by teleporters.

and star ocean 4 they let u use the ship.

 

oh golden sun, there is a part in the game where your chars from the old ones can be used and all their equipment and djinns
