It is. When you take into account value is relative. To a lot of people... games are fun... but you may as well be asking to pay 400 when you pay 40.
I'd buy a game for 60 bucks. My dad would never buy a videogame... even if he found it fun because he thinks its a waste of money.
Furthermore... if a game got universally bad reviews... and your friend owned it? Wouldn't you play it just to see? Or if it was a game you weren't really interested in but someone else liked... etc?
