Piracy might sell the hardware for those who would pirate (and thereby help to kill profit for developers), but it eats away the platform itself.
The real, long-term money is made from software licensing fees, not the hardware.
Pirating makes the games cheaper for the douche-bags who pirate, but it also disincentivizes the developers and publishers from creating games for the platform.
Sony needs to figure out how to stop it.
