The main changes I would want are some improvements to the online. If anyone uses more than 5 blue shells in one online race the game assumes they are cheating, scratches their disk, which then ejects and decapitates them.
Also add the ability to not vote for a course, instead of voting for a random course, and the limitation that no course can be played twice consecutively unless the vote for that course is unanimous. Also add more customisation for online, such as making up the numbers with CPUs, and the same level of choice of items and speed/mirror mode as in local multiplayer.
Also, fix battle mode. The new team options are fun, but they should have been in addition to the modes from the GC version.
Also, bring back 2 people per kart as an option perhaps, and each character having their own special weapon also as an option
Frame rate in 4 player isn't great.
