RPG Maker was really fun for me until I hit the realization that at the end of the day, my imagination was severely limited. I was confined to the cliched sprites that came with the game, and what I could steal from sites. I wanted to make an RPG based off of the American Revolutionary War (I already had a bunch of things worked out), but I couldn't find the right sprites, weapons, monsters, etc.
I thought RPG Maker was awesome, but it was limited for me by content.
