I think I knw how the FFXIII versus the 360's dvd's size can be fixed.

I was about to ask the same question...

You and I might be the only two in the thread that have actually installed a game onto the 360. Everyone else here is under the assumption it's some magical all-in-one fix to any conceivable problem in game design.

I've had mixed experiences.  Noticable performance improvements for Mass Effect, but no real difference for Fable 2.

As someone who has a 20GB HDD, and knows people with no HDD, the idea of a compulsory 45-60GB HDD install is certainly an entertaining one...

I love the high end of that "educated" guess...60GB. So two Blu Rays then for a miniscule overspill in gigabytes?

I still don't get exactly what a hard drive install on the 360 is going to do to fix the space issues of DVDs when you need to insert DVDs to create the install in the first place.

Square is probably going to use incredible compression that will turn 6.7GB on a DVD into 45-60GB on a HDD, or take advantage of the epic download speeds every Xbox 360 on the planet has.  You will put an activation DVD into your Xbox 360 and then the entire game will download to the HDD in two minutes.

Sony's Blu-Ray has the capacity to hold 200GB.  Sony will give the PS3 a firmware update allowing it to play all Blu-Ray's, so that the 60GB game will fit on one disk.

 

Maybe the install disc will be in a zip file, and Square will allow you to download Winzip off the 360 that is compatible with the console.

The problem with a 200GB Blu Ray disc is that once you give them the option, Square is going to feel forced to spend millions more in development costs and take years longer to come out just to fulfill their everlasting need to fill the disc to capacity. It seems to be the ever loving dream of all PS3 developers.
