It's probably better on the Virtual Console.
The one issue RCR has is it uses a password system... and the passwords are way too long.
You can speed through the game in a day... but if you want to build up your character and learn all sorts of cool moves and buy the items from the secret shop (if you find it).... you'll want to save.
A typical password i believe looks like this...
