Shhhhh. Don't tell anyone. |
Pity those 3rd party titles somehow have mysterious problems selling more than 1 M :D

There are plenty of third party games on the Wii that have sold over a million. You should click on the sales charts.
|
Perhaps you should try clicking it first:
http://vgchartz.com/games/index.php?&results=50&name=&console=Wii&keyword=&publisher=&genre=&order=Sales&boxart=Both&showdeleted=®ion=All&alphasort=
Let's see:
first places Nintendo, then collection of mini games, then more nintendo mixed with plastic instruments games, one Lego title at 18th, then tons of shovelware or mini-games collection mixed with gamecube rereleases with only a few good games making it to 1M.
If I were publisher I'd send my best teams on developing stuff for PS3/X360/PC and rest to produce quick cash-in titles in Wii/DS.

I don't know the rest of you guys, but for me, this is somewhat what is actually going on. The result? The 360 and Ps3 are destroying each other while Nintendo keeps dominating and growing. Ps360 can have the old hardcore while Nintendo have the kids and everyone else. And not only that, they do have their best teams on their machine.
This is not a discussion about the games you/I prefer, otherwise I would have gave up, because I like oldschool hardcore games. This is a discussion about sales.
If the next generation PS3 and 360 stick to their traditional/actual market, that would mean MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction) and another generation of Nintendomination. But I predict that next gen every console would follow Nintendo's lead in terms of hardware and software. And that would be interesting to watch (I don`t know if worth playing) in terms of the business.

Being a gamer, I I'd rather have the "hardcore" rather than the "kids and everyone else" market on my side. Like I said in the thread talking about the Wii having 58% marketshare for the month of March....until the Wii gets a steady stream of games the likes of SFIV, RE5, Valyria Chronicles, Bioshock, Burnout Paradise, etc...you know, a stream of QUALITY 3rd party games....then I don't care how much it sells. It could have 1 billion sales, but as long as it doesn't have those kinds of games, then I don't (and nobody else should for that matter) care

Exactly my point.
I have two hobbies right now: Gaming Sales Discussion and gaming itself.
As a gamer, not a fanboy, I honestly say that if I had more money I would have got long time ago the other two systems. There are lots of games interesting to me.
But in a Sales Discussion I think having the kids and everyone else, (including some hardcore) is a sucessful long term marketing strategy. So back on topic= I still don't understand why position the Ps360 as the "hardcore exclusive machines" when you can have games in the "everyone's invited Wii inclusive machine". Following that path is only making the things easier to Nintendo.
