I mean it is doubtful that Wii Sports Resort will do badly. However, to live up to its predecessor it is going to have to sell 40 million copies, so half of that really wouldn't be matching the success of the first one. I do think Wii Sports Resort is a test for the Wii because the blue ocean strategy is predicated upon the Wii offering games to attract people that normally wouldn't be interested in gaming. However, with that since these people aren't the kind of people that usually frequent gaming sites or read gaming magazines that they could think, I already have Wii Sports, so I don't need to buy it again. And they could get tired of buying games that have extra pieces of equiptment as one of their main selling points. Now, it isn't likely to happen, but it could. What if Wii Sports Resort doesn't pass Halo 3 in nonbundled form? |
I actually fully expect that someday (maybe by this Christmas) Wii Sports Resort and the WM+ will become the pack-ins for the console. Nintendo will then sell the original Wii Sports separately for about $20.
Keep this in mind when reading what I type...
I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.
