Frankly, I'm interested to see how the Wii version sells. Not because I think it'll sell badly or I think either theory is wrong, but because a lot of people have been clamoring for a main series console Pokemon game for a long time.
I've been a long time advocator that the reason they aren't making a main series Console Pokemon is for the simple fact that it would compete with their handheld games. Now I would love the game as much as anybody (or even more, a Pokemon MMO). But this upcoming Wii Monster Hunter might be a good test for another series to prove if a primarily handheld monster breeding game can make the leap to a console and not compete with its handheld series at the same time.
And if it does it successfully, Nintendo might just do the same.
