I think you have to be a bit older than that to really remember what happened before April 1970.
"1", the Beatles compilation released in 2000, sold around 30 mio copies.
It's still the fastest and best selling album of this decade, as far as I know (and I loved how RCA copied it with "ELV1S" and Mick Jagger..sorry..the Stones with "Forty Licks" two years later).
So yes, I think this game could be a huge success.
