I recall a few conversations with people when the Wii was still new and not yet even out, about the Wii shop channel and the inability to recover wii shop items.
I, just an hour ago, got my new Wii, one to replace an old launch model with minor problems. The sheet told me everything was transfered and I could simply redownload all my titles. Imagine my surprise when I log onto Wii shop and I am missing 70$ or so in downloads, quite a shock.
Anyway I call Nintendos C.S. line and talk to a rep. Long story short you CAN recover your games and Wii ware the only thing is you can only do so on a replacement or repair that's sanctioned by Nintendo. In addition you need a my nintendo account a registered wii(why wouldn't you register it if you have one?) and to link it the wii shop to your my nintendo account.
All this is of course assuming you get a replacement Wii that for some reason or another lacks your games. Not the best news ever but not bad news all the same.
Just thought I'd share for anybody who'd like to know.
