Shipped is not different from sold. Shipped units determines supply/demand AND it ACCURATELY describes how many units itself has sold. It's not really that complicated to understand there isn't a difference. If nobody buys a console, then it will sit at 1 million units sold and not budge from that mark.
Sometimes it hurts to go number 2.
