I think it's only if you haven't played the Japan version (which I haven't)
"Final Fantasy VII was first released in Japan on January 31, 1997. The game came to North America on September 3, 1997 with a few improvements: additional FMV, tightened mini-game control, arrows indicating exits, an enhanced materia management system, and an added cutscene that helped clarify Cloud's past. These improvements were included in a third version of the game, titled Final Fantasy VII International, that was released only in Japan and included a new fourth disc with information, maps, character sketches, and general trivia about Final Fantasy VII"
I also heard that it's going to be less "blocky"
