shortages were bull . i even made a thread about it. ill quickly rehash it
1. it was only the pro recieving shortages
2 sales never increased after supposed shortages were taken care of.
this has only two possibilities. the shortages never hindered sales and MS were able to keep up with deman (is that considered shortages? i wouldnt) or people just accepted a different model... again not hindering sales.
MS was getting beat by a much higher priced system by a decent margin ,onth after month in their best territory so instead of say 'we suck' they made up an excuse and blamed it on shortages. they expected gta4 to be the point when 360 outsold the ps3 again but it wasnt.
