Actually I based my opinion of the triplechat review. I just happened to have seen the Famitsu review so I figured I'd post the scores. Seems mediocre to me because this game sounds like one that does most things reasonably well. My impression from what I've read is that it won't shock or amaze or inspire, but it will get the job done. He doesn't use the word "epic" because he thinks it's overused. The impression that I get from reading that review is quite positive. He even describes it as a "game that RPGamers should treasure for a long time come". That's not the impression you'd think he'd give to an average dunegon crawler. Overall the review was pretty glowing, but I understand your hesitancy towards accepting his take at face value. He only fleetingly mentions things like the bloodstains, messages and ghosts, something that adds quite a bit of character and feel to the game. He also fails to mention character tendancy, world tendancy, co-operative play and the well-implemented player vs player raiding and combat. All of these elements, among others are important yet strangely lacking from his review.
Not a bad review, but it really only gives a brief overview. There is a lot more to the game than is disclosed.
