Your story is almost exactly like mine. I supported Nintendo blindly for years and years only to find the games I was interested in coming less and less. I can't remember how many fond memories I had playing NES and SNES, but it must have been 5X as many then there were in the N64/Gamecube era. Uhhh remember the hell of waiting for a decent RPG on N64? Quest 64 was like the ONLY RPG for N64.
I knew the Wii would be a success but I also knew Nintendo would continue to have lackluster third party support. Add that to the fact that I wanted HD and it was a no brainer to switch over to the PS3. I regret not switching brands sooner.
I picked up a Wii and a PS2 in December, and the PS2 is getting twice the playtime of the Wii. And I play the PS3 more then twice the two of them combined. Don't get me wrong I'm glad I have the Wii for parties and such, but I will never be a Nintendo fanboy again.
