Here's hoping they took the engine, and Wii-ified it (better textures/geometry, etc..). No reason why they couldn't.

No reason? More time and money ARE reasons. This game and the zapper cost $20 together. You think Nintendo could afford that if they spent time upgrading the engine?

Umm... yeah. They don't actually need to touch the engine - just redo/improve the textures, and improve some of the models.

Ninty want this to become the next WiiPlay - a quality piece of software would be the perfect way to help this sell 5m (or more) units. That would be 100m US in revenue - for maybe 1m of development (or maybe 250k...).

Yeah - I think they can afford to do that :)

Maybe some minor touches, but even improving the textures would cost a fair amount. This looks to be a $10 game (as Wii Play is $10 plus $40 for the Wiimote), so Nintendo is unlikely to do much over that.

With their next Zelda game on the Wii, we can expect a major upgrade.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
