Well the game is really offensive, and it always has been. But it's not the 80's anymore, so it's even weirder by today's standards. I actually can't believe they added a gay disco dancer. They even play up Glass Joe's Frenchness more than ever, possibly to capitalize on how much Americans are supposed to hate the French?

Nintendo has the right to use bad stereotypes in their game, and we all have the right to complain.

Either way, the game is fun as hell. I fought the first 4 matches and it was great. I can't wait for it to come out so I can try the multiplayer. I'm definitely getting it.

If you're really offended I think you really need to question why you're so sensitive ...

Something I have noticed in my life is that quite often the people who "Should" be offended by stereotypes are the ones who find them the funniest (if the stereotype is well created); part of the reason for this is that stereotypes tend to have some basis in reality and the people who "Should" be offended know people who are like the stereotype presented which makes it funnier to them.

With that said, I think people are reading too much into these stereotypes because (in most cases) they are playing up boxing related stereotypes that have existed for a very long time, or they're making fun of famous boxers. Von Kaiser (for example) is meant to be a reference to the bare knuckle boxing that is seen in a lot of movies representing the 1800s.
