Well you're right this isnt what I was talking about. I'm talking about third party exclusive game. For a console to be successful, you have to get some exclsuive third party big hitters. So far the only one Sony got is MGS4 and I don't think it will have others. The point here is quite simple. Sony can brag about their first party development division as long as they want but they don't receive great third party support anymore and the reason is simple : third party publishers won't sell enough to make large profit if they make it exclusive to the PS3. So I guess Reggie was right. |
Well, you'll have to understand that a system can't have 3rd party EXCLUSIVE best sellers if it doesn't have the EXCLUSIVES in the first place. And no, a console doesn't need 3rd party big hitters to be successful. Just take a long hard look at the Wii.
Frankly, you're beating at straws here. reggie himself has complained about the wii not getting certain 3rd party games even with it's success yet the wii is still successful. If anything, sony copying nintendo's strategy and building a huge 1st party dev base will ensure that they never experince the debacle that was the ps3's first year on the market ever again.
And Reggie said ps3 has good games but some just don't sell. The first thing that came to my mind was LBP (which is sony's problem) not any 3rd party game.
