I was backing you up. Wii Sports is tracked in Japan, since it isn't bundled. Thus that would be the only part of total Wii Sports sales that would contribute to the attach ratio.
Nothing was ever mentioned as to Japan > EU + US or not.

It's quite possible GFK or ChartTrack does indeed count Wii Sports sales. I only made my statement on the basis that the 3 do not. I know NPD doesn't for sure, or we'd have had the same #1 title for the last 29 months. BORING!
