Late in this generation post release of the XboxNext and PS4 the Xbox 360 and the PS3 will both still be for sale.
Software support will come from 3rd parties and at the time the 3rd party software created for the PS3 and the 360 will be the same. This will result in both consoles being supported for about the same length of time.
Microsoft will not drop support of the 360 until the console isnt selling any longer. So dont expect a hollow victory for the PS3 because the 360 is pulled from the market and the PS3 continues to be sold.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
