Giving back to the community, for one. I think that it's great that we have people who are willing to give up their time to help make the VGChartz community better. I also think it would be an honor to be a mod; that shows that the people who run the site appreciate all that you do for it, and that they want to give you an opportunity to become more involved. Not everything worthwhile has to have a paycheck at the end of it, you know. =)
