That's true to some extent. That doesn't have a lot to do with the data, but I'll post the ratios anyway.
By this site's data, these are the shares between first party and third party. (I'm not adding the "total sold" as I believe that will just cause confusion compared to the OP. If you want it, just go WW weekly, check the total, and multiply by the percentage/100).
Wii:
1st party: 56%
3rd party: 44%
Ps3:
1st party: 23%
3rd party: 77%
X360:
1st party: 21%
3rd party: 79%
And just for the sake of it...
DS:
1st party: ~ 50%
3rd party: ~ 50%
(It's pretty dead on even).
