The life span will depend on profits,nothing more, Xbox,Saturn, and Dreamcast ended because they were were losing tons of money with no end in sight. Xbox 360 is at least breaking even at worst and at best making some money. The PS3 made $4 million last quarter including the profits from PSP and PS2. If the PS3 itself is tanking a crap load with no end in sight, Sony will pull the plug.
