People care that much because they're so insecure about there console. They don't know if they wasted their cash or not... It's a little sad really...

 

Because to "Gamers" quality of game trumps people wanting to save a quick buck.

THe whole more ppl get to play it is stupid. If they want to play it they will buy the system it is FOR! No one is stoping them from buying multiple consoles to get which games they like.

Exclusives beg higher quality games rather then lowest common denominator MP games. Exclusives have to compete against rival console games of similar nature, causing a cycle of trying to one up each other. MP games dont really worry to much about rivals becuase.....there on every system.

The fact that They ARE centered on one particular userbase means they have to put in that much more effort to persuade a gamer to buy a game for "This" console over the "other" console. Prime examples;Gears vs Resistance, Killzone 2 vs Halo, Singstar vs Lips, LBP vs Spore, etc.
