What happened to the blue light?

LOL you can just as easily turn off WiiConnect24 in the settings menu.

Or even just turn off the blue light option (which means you don't know if you have a message until you turn it on, but if you don't like the light)

As for updates... there are a few game specific ones, I get a message every 15 days about the newest Mario Kart Wii competition.
