There's no rescaling going on; the screen may be bigger, but it's the exact same resolution.
Rescaling only happens when the screen is a different resolution than what's being displayed on it. It's like having a 1280x1024 monitor and playing Commander Keen - a 640x480 (VGA, 0.3 MP) game - fullscreen.
However, if you have two monitors - one is 19 inches, the other 17 inches - but they both do 1280x1024 native, the 19-inch screen doesn't rescale from the 17-inch because they both do the exact same resolution. They may be different sizes, but they're the same resolution.
