Without looking at sales data I can guarantee that no peripheral sold with a console since it's launch has ever had an attach ratio of more than 50% , this is because the consumer expects a complete experience at the time of purchase (also one of the advantages consoles have over PC's). I think Motion Plus should be saved as a selling point for the next nintendo console , Ninty could use it to attract core gamers who are more interested in the science behind motion controls , they would appreciate motion plus. But right now it's just pointless. |
assuming ofcourse that with 1/4 billion spent on R&D they actually don't have any other ideas already developed for Wii 2.
They do. I agree that it will be difficult to sell it to cores who already decided the Wii is bullshit but if they give it away cheap, and eventually just build it into the wiimote, then there won't be a problem and no one will care.
Casuals will keep buying and reviews will be much more positive in terms of controls.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
