First Ratchet sold well (around 580k) because it was bundled with PS2. So it gives you this false impression that people actually went there and bought that game specifically. It is something similar to Motorstorm bundle in US. 20k every week since bundle was released, before that more like 5k if not less(cant check now). So conclusion is, first game sold well because of the bundle. Second sold 250k in Japan -50% without bundle and with bigger install base. And third sold 310k with biggest install base at that time even that is not so good.
So all this talk how Japanese like "some" and than using Ratchet games as example...i mean how pathetic is that?
Forza 2 is good example. Japanese love driving simulations and probably second best driving simulation after GT sold only 40k with install base of 440k 360 sold in Japan!? It didn't move units, not one bit.
Yes they are racist and ego tripped. Just listen to latest 1Up podcast where Ryan Payton(works for Konami) talk a little about this phenom that Japanese don't like western games.
