Sometimes when you send an expired console in to Nintendo they fix it and send it back without a charge. If you had bought a bunch of VC games and registered a lot of DS and Wii games with Nintendo.com they would have looked up your record and not quoted a repair cost. Send it in anyway and get it fixed. It's well worth the time and whatever little money they charge. Chances are you could argue out the bill with them when they call you to tell you the cost. I've never heard of them being unreasonable. Also, what's broke on the console?

basically my little cousin put something in the disc drive and i put a wii game in there without knowing and when i tried to turn it on it wouldn't go to the wii menu, then when i tried to eject the disc it refused to let it out. I eventually managed to get the disc out and managed to get to the wii menu, but then it wouldn't play any games and i can hear something rattling around in the wii.
