Definitely guilty of #1 and #4 oodles of times.
Tips for even cooler #1 stuff:
1. Enter by jumping (as in the article)
2. Enter in the standing animation (not running) - harder
3. Enter jumping and shooting
4. Enter jumping and shooting special weapon (with a different animation)
5. Enter backwards (think Flash Man)
Yeah, I played Mega Man 2 WAAAAYYY too many times, sue me! :P
