Movie rental via online services are not limited to just the PS3. If it were an exclusive feature, you'd have a point.
For the PS3 to outsell the PS, the sales rate will need to increase from a current sales rate of ~10 million per year to ~15 million per for the next 6 years. The PS2 itself was barely doing that for the first 6 years and it certainly hasn't since all the new consoles launched. I don't see the PS3 beating that in the face of much stronger competition and global recession.
